ExPASy- What is it and How it is of your use?

ExPASy is a database that provides you information various domains like proteomics, genomics, phylogeny and other similar topics. It is maintained and managed by web team of Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. This web portal is for all kind of users. There may be experts who can seek for various kinds of details about an enzyme or particulary DNA sequence. Latest user interface of ExPASy uses demographics.

ExPASy is known as Expert Protein Analysis System. Initially, it was used to deliver information on proteins only. But as the time passed, SIB modified it and now ExPASy provides information on genes, proteins and genetics.

If you are a biotechnologist or biotechnology researcher or a biotech student and are seeking for information about any protein, enzyme and any genetic sequence, you can visit ExPASy web portal at www.expasy.org. There are various resources such as genomics, ENZYME etc. Select the resource first and then enter the query for which you want information.

For example, if you want some information on the enzyme Amylase, then first select ENZYME as the resource in which you want to search and then tpe the enzyme name you want to search about. Click on search and you will get all the information about Amylase. Similarly, you can search for any gene in genomics resource.
